Diamonds Are Forever (1956)
The fourth James Bond novel. Henchman Kidd's nickname was changed from ‘Boofy’ to ‘Dolly’ by Fleming in later British editions, after objections were raised by Anne Fleming's cousin, the Lord Arran, who was known to his friends as ‘Boofy’ Gore. (Fleming often “borrowed” the names of friends and relatives for use in his books, and this is the only known instance of an appropriation that led to an apology by Fleming and a character's subsequent name change.)
